The DC – staff relationship is the most primary component to a strong structure. When trust is strong, workplace productivity and efficiency are high.
A strong bond of trust between a manager and employee is important in executing company change.
We all have some form of trust in our staff, but is it the right trust?
We recall last month’s newsletter on the stats of how our employees are feeling. Refer to the chart below as a reminder.
It’s no surprise when we googled ideas to build trust, we found a surplus of websites and “specialists” all claiming to have the right answer. The bottom line is to build trust with any relationship, be it personal or professional they all said the same thing. COMMUNICATION and HONESTY.
You are part of a “work family”. Most of us spend more time with coworkers than our own families. Communication and the ability to share thoughts, ideas, and goals are important for all levels.
Carve some time out of your schedule each week to listen to your staff. Go in 15 minutes early, wait and check your email until your next patient break and go out to talk with your staff. Ask how they are doing, ask about their families. Then you share something.
Don’t be afraid to think outside the box. If you find out your staff love flowers, let staff bring them in. Set up a schedule, include yourself on the schedule. Try a favorite snack day, favorite color day, favorite coffee day. The possibilities are endless.
